Founder:Siddhartha Gautama founded this religion in 540 BC. This religion was started when Siddhartha left his palace and saw all the suffering in the world for the first time. He went from a prince to someone who barely ate and had no money. After a while he began to follow The Middle Path, which means, he did not spoil himself but did not starve himself either. He wanted to find what caused so much suffering in the world. He found out by meditating underneath a Bodi tree, which is considered a symbol to the religion, what he found out is that wanting causes suffering. He also reached Nirvana, which is basically Buddhism's heaven. He was the first Buddha, or enlightened one. After this he spread the religion around Nepal, which spread around Asia. Leaders:Most religions have gods but Buddhism is different. Buddhism doesn't have any gods but has leaders instead. The leaders of Buddhism are monks and Buddhas, they spread the religion and teach other Buddhists about the religion. Place of Worship:Buddhists practice their religion in many places. Religious Festivals:Wesak-celebrates the birth, enlightenment, and death of a Buddha. Wesak resembles the Christian Christmas.
